Summer is one of the most beautiful times of the year in London (right after autumn, of course). It’s one of those rare seasons when you actually get to see the sun in the UK sky. It’s also festival season, packed with outdoor events, making every sunny day feel like a true celebration for Brits.
Fashion-wise, summer is the one season when my style shifts from classic and vintage to something more playful and casual. While I enjoy the change, it often leads to confusion. Every year, I’m drawn to summer trends that don’t quite fit my personal style, and I usually end up regretting it. On top of that, the summer wardrobe I brought with me to London is much larger than what’s really needed here, which only adds to the chaos. That’s why building a summer capsule wardrobe, based on my experience last year in the UK, has been an absolute lifesaver this season. It’s helped me focus my style and truly redefine my summer staples.

Capsule Wardrobe Planning – Finding Inspiration
Unlike previous years, this year’s summer inspiration Pinterest board features a mix of prints and colors, complemented by neutral and classic items. Graphic t-shirts have always been a summer staple of mine, even more so since last year. Adding colorful striped shirts, beaded jewellery, and linen trousers or skirts creates the perfect easy summer look. Additionally, I’m a big fan of summer textures, so I love blending the crispness of a button-up layered over a tank top. Pairing linen trousers with crochet tops also adds a fresh and sophisticated touch to my outfits.

Summer Capsule New Additions
So far, I’ve added nine new pieces to my summer capsule wardrobe. These include three printed t-shirts and a vest top I found at Damson Madder. I also picked up two button-ups, which are perfect for layering on London’s unpredictable summer days. One is a pink-striped shirt from ASOS, the other a khaki linen shirt from Uniqlo. Lastly, I added three trousers: all lightweight, easy to wear, and super versatile. There’s a light-wash wide-leg pair from Uniqlo that feels surprisingly airy. I also got striped linen trousers and beige linen ones to replace my vintage pair. I’ve wanted to update those for a while, and this version fits perfectly. All items are linked below if you’d like to check them out.

Light Outerwear Pieces
Since summer in London can also include chilly and rainy days, I’ve included some light outerwear pieces in this capsule, such as a linen jacket and a denim shacket.

- Gingham cotton shorts

- Beige silk skirt

Outfit Combinations
Since the British summer can be unpredictable, I have put together a mix of outfits suitable for both warm and cooler days. Having experienced my second summer in the city, I have a better understanding of what to expect this year regarding summer looks. Luckily, this summer is also hotter than last year, so I anticipate getting more use out of my ‘high summer’ items as well.

As I always like to start a new season with my wardrobe staples, I invite you to explore my summer essentials in this reel.
My greatest wish for my wardrobe this new season is to feel satisfied with it while staying true to my personal style and lifestyle. I hope you can achieve this same goal as well!
Wishing you a wonderful summertime ☀️
