Since moving to London, the weather has been one of the main things I had to adjust to. Although it has officially been spring, it is not what I am used to. The days are still cold, and it is hard to part with coats and knits, which will remain with us through spring. I mostly miss wearing my blazers, but I am not brave enough yet to wear them as outerwear. My current solution is wearing lined trench coats, crewneck knits and cardigans to keep me warm.
Capsule Wardrobe Planning – Finding Inspiration
My Spring mood board for 2024 mainly features classic items and minimalistic oversized silhouettes. My go-to wardrobe staples for this season consist of white jeans, oversized knits, a white T-shirt, and a trench coat. To add a touch of colour to my neutral wardrobe, I have chosen greens and blues, my favourite spring colours. If I want to add more colours, I usually do so through my accessories.
Spring Capsule New Additions
As you can see in the graphics, I have many new items in my wardrobe this season. I purchased most of them during winter and a few more in the past month. This is because I made an unplanned wardrobe restart this winter to adapt my clothes to the weather here. Honestly, I also got bored from wearing the same outfits since October. Most of the items I bought are secondhand, and almost every item I purchased was a replacement for something I had sold.
I mainly bought knitwear, with the exception of two cardigans, from Vinted. Lately, I have been loving oversized knits which I did not own before. I am also fond of the pop of greens that my new cardigans provide. In terms of outerwear, I added a beautiful camel blazer and a green coat from Vinted as well as a vintage oversized trench coat. Though the trench coat is more oversized than I had anticipated, I hope to get used to it soon. Additionally, I bought two pairs of black and white jeans. In terms of footwear, I finally found black loafers, which I feel comfortable in. I also decided to join the Adidas trend with this lovely pair of burgundy trainers. Items in the Spring Capsule
Blazers and Jackets
Blazers and light outerwear are some of my favourite spring layers. In my capsule collection, I have a trench coat, a green Barbour wax coat, and three blazers in brown, camel, and blue. Although it is still cold to wear most of these pieces, I hope for warmer weather soon.
Knitwear
Knitwear is still essential these days. However, to experience the change of seasons (at least psychologically!), I parted with my turtleneck knits and kept my crewneck knits and cardigans, which I love wearing during spring. This includes two oversized knits in beige and grey, a beige collared knit, and three cardigans in beige and green.
T-Shirts
One of the items I’ve missed wearing during winter was my T-shirts. I love pairing them with a blazer or tailored trousers for a smart-casual look. I chose two basic T-shirts: a polo-neck T-shirt and a long-sleeved striped T-shirt.
Button-ups
Button-up shirts are great, versatile pieces of clothing that can be worn throughout the year! I enjoy wearing them in the springtime, either on their own or layered over a T-shirt or tank top. This capsule collection includes four classic long-sleeved button-up shirts in different textures—two made of crisp cotton, one made of denim, and one made of silk in a lovely olive green colour.
Trousers and Jeans
The current capsule mainly includes a varied selection of jeans in different styles and colours. I love wearing my bright-coloured pairs in springtime, adding them to my classic all-year jeans. I also included one pair of black tailored trousers.
Shoes
In my spring shoe capsule collection, I mainly have trainers and sneakers. I also incorporated a pair of black loafers, which I love wearing these days. Specifically, I chose a pair of Converse sneakers, New Balance trainers, and Adidas SL 72 trainers in brown and burgundy.
Outfit Combinations
I created an initial selection of sixteen outfit variations from the capsule, aiming to style each item in two different ways. Since I haven’t had the opportunity to wear most of these outfits yet, I have taken inspiration from my Pinterest and similar outfit variations I have worn lately.

Planning a seasonal capsule wardrobe can be challenging when living in a new place. It requires flexibility and willingness to adjust your wardrobe according to the weather and your lifestyle. Therefore, it is worth remembering that your capsule wardrobe is not set in stone. You can always make changes if you need to. Don’t be afraid to experiment and adjust it as needed!
